The public is welcome to come out and see what the kids can do using technology.
WOODSTOCK - The 13th annual Oxford Invitational Youth Robotics Challenge is happening on Tuesday the 20th at the Goff Hall.
15 schools from the County will be competition this year. Warden David Bayberry says the students are provided with a task to solve using a robot that they have to create.
"The robotics clubs are invited to build a robot of their own design to complete a specific task and it is sort of a celebration of the innovative thinking that people do, especially students. The robots will be displayed at Goff Hall on Wednesday and then their is a judging process to determine the best ones and a winner is declared. It is open to the public and I encourage the public to come out and see the amazing innovative minds that we have right here in the region and how they will develop solutions to challenges in the future."
Bayberry says it's remarkable to see how each class comes up with a different idea to solve the same problem.
"I was amazed that when you have 15 schools, given the same task and the same equipment, they come up with 15 different solutions to the same problem. Some are always more successful than others but it is a case of being able to figure out the software and the equipment."
This event is free for anyone to come by and check out. It's happening all day at Goff Hall and the public is welcome to stop by starting at 3 pm at the Goff Hall.
