Youth Art Contest Comes to Ingersoll

The youth of Ingersoll have the opportunity to create art showcasing the heritage of Canada.

INGERSOLL - There is a Youth Canada Day Art contest in Ingersoll.

The Ingersoll Diversity and Inclusion Committee sponsors it and has two age categories, which are 4 to 11 and 12 to 16. Organizer, Brooke Ventnor, says there are 4 categories the artists can choose from.

"We have sports within Canada; we have indigenous cultures and traditions. We also have asked for truth and reconciliation of the area or a theme to choose from, and then the other aspect is agriculture and rural life in Canada."

Ventnor says there will be free canvas for each artist to pick up.

"So, we have two pickup locations, so they can come to Victoria Park Community Center or Fusion Youth Center."

Each artist will have to make sure their name, phone number, or email is on the back of their work. The art will have to be dropped off at the Town Tent before 4:30 p.m. at the Canada Day event. The winner in each age group will be announced after the opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
