The residents of Woodstock are being asked for their help. Woodstock Police are looking to name their new K-9 officer.
WOODSTOCK - A naming contest is coming to Woodstock.
The Woodstock Police Service has a new K-9 officer. The new pup has joined the force after the tragic loss of Taz in July of last year.
Community Service Officer, Shaylyn Jackson says how the name will come about.
"We're providing an opportunity for the community to help us name our new furry friend."
She mentions how people can submit any ideas they may have.
"If people have ideas for what they would like to name the dog, they can complete a Google Form online."
The link for the form can be found by visiting the WPS Facebook, Instagram, or X page, or by clicking here.
Jackson adds, that he is 2 years old and was born in the Netherlands, but came to the Force from Tri-State Canine in Ohio.
He is very active and has a high motivation to work.
The new pup is currently certified in general patrol and will be working alongside Constable Skillings and Striker.
The contest opens today (Wednesday, February 14th) and will run until Sunday, February 25th.
