WPS Fill Many Cruisers

The 4th Annual "Fill a Cruiser" event was a success this year. Saturday, members of the Woodstock Police Service were at Sobeys to help fill their police cruisers with as much food as possible. Grocery shoppers at Sobeys were in an extra giving mood. The WPS managed to fill 7.5 cruisers, beating last years total of 7. They actually ran out of the 300 bags that were made up this year. People gave cash donations after instead, which totalled $350. Auxiliary Sergeant Deb Klemp says the bags of food bought at Sobeys contain non-perishable goods. "Some staples like pasta sauce, pasta, cans of soup, cereal, things like that. And then they'll take them down to the Salvation Army food bank and they'll bundle them up into hampers. There's been people there applying for hampers already and there's a substantial amount this year," said Klemp. The Salvation Army deliver the food hampers to families in need so they'll have a decent meal at Christmas. If you didn't get a chance to buy a food bag, Sobeys in Woodstock will be making up more for the next couple of weeks before Christmas.
