WPS Chief Daryl Longworth says it's an honour to be appointed to the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police Chief Daryl Longworth is now a member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
This honour is presented by the Governor General of Canada on behalf of the Queen. It was first created 21 years ago to honour exceptional police service from men and women across the country.
Longworth says it's an honour to be a member.
"I am very honoured to have been appointed as a member of the Order of Merit. It is a privilege to lead the men and women of this police service who work tirelessly and give so much of themselves to ensure the safety and well-being of our community each and every day."
Longworth started with the Woodstock Police Service back in 1995 and he worked his way through the ranks before becoming a Deputy Chief with the London Police Service in 2015. He was only there for a few years before becoming the Woodstock Police Chief in 2019.
He has also received the Police Officer Exemplary Service Medal and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal throughout his career.
