The restoration efforts continue at the Bricks Pond Wetland in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council will be provided with an update on the Brick Ponds Wetland Rehabilitation on Thursday night.
Phil Holst from Ducks Unlimited will be at City council to show the design for the work that is planned for the next phase of the restoration. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch says he is looking forward to the update.
"This will be another opportunity for the citizens of Woodstock to hear about the rehabilitation work that is going on in one of the largest urban wetlands in all of Canada."
Birtch says work has been going on at the Brick Ponds for the past 3 years.
"To make sure that we preserve this natural beauty that we have right here in the Friendly City and improve the water that is going into Southside Park and then eventually into the Thames River. This will also provide opportunities for education and this update to council will tell us where we are at in that process."
Birtch says residents can volunteer to help out with the process over the coming year. The restoration is being done in partnership with the City of Woodstock, UTRCA, Ducks Unlimited, Oxford County, local businesses and others.
