Matthew Hodgkinson will be travelling across Canada on the CISV Peace Bus.
WOODSTOCK - The CISV Peace Bus is revving its engine and this time it's taking a student from Woodstock.
Matthew Hodgkinson is joining the team of volunteers who will be visiting different communities across Canada.
The group of 15 teenagers wrap up their exams fly out to Victoria only days after.
The 39-day tour will end in Halifax.
Sarah Hodgkinson, Matthew's mother explains why CISV was founded.
"Where CISV came out of, was after World War II, adults got together and said, adults are screwing up the world. Let's see if kids can't solve the issue of world peace and get kids together internationally."
Sarah talks about how beneficial the experience will be for her son.
"It's a great opportunity to meet kids across Canada. To be able to volunteer across communities and see everything Canada has and in some cases what Canada does not have, in certain areas."
Sarah says this opportunity will be very different for him.
"He's excited. But, he is very nervous as well. Obviously he has never done anything like this in his life. He is going to be away for 39 days, which is longer than any other camp he has been to."
The group will build leadership skills, learn about Canada, and participate in educational activities.
