Woodstock Spring Cleaning

Park Supervisor Chris Kerns is looking for volunteers for the annual Woodstock clean-up day on Saturday at 9AM.

WOODSTOCK - To combat the ever growing concern of litter within the city, volunteers will be going out to do a little spring cleaning.

Park Supervisor Chris Kerns wants to keep Woodstock looking beautiful and with support, the city can keep looking its best.  "We're having the parks annual clean-up day.  We've got a city bus lined up and we are going travel through the city and drop people off at various locations.  We are going to have a great time picking up a whole bunch of litter that has made its way into the boulevard there over the winter time."   

Kerns says support so far has been great and participants will get a free meal following the cleanup process - but you must volunteer first.  "I just require you to show up at 9 o'clock at the park shop all I need from you is to dress according to the conditions. We provide the vest, gloves, and the garbage bags."  The bus will drop volunteers off in heavily travelled parts of the city. Kerns reminds citizens we only have one world and we need to look after it. 

Park Supervisor Kerns will be leading the group that will begin at the park offices on Wellington road at 9am on Saturday morning to hit the busiest sections of the town. "We are going to be concentrating on Mill Street, Juliana Avenue, working our way down to Norwich Avenue, around to Springbank Avenue, and then up Parkinson Street.  We will be concentrating on that area because the heavily travelled roads tend to have more litter then the side streets."
