Woodstock Police were busy with break and enters, multiple pets left in cars, and are now investigating a suspicious person.
WOODSTOCK - It was a busy weekend for the Woodstock Police with break and enters, animals in cars, and a suspicious person on Canterbury Street.
The first break and enter happened on Friday, July 22 when a business on Dundas Street was entered and the thief or thieves made off with $6,000 worth of tools.
During the early hours of Saturday, July 23 several homes and vehicles in the north-east end of the city were also broken into and damaged. At one of the homes, the owners were sleeping inside while the suspects entered the garage, rummaged through the vehicles, and even entered the home itself and stole a backpack. The suspects then continued into the backyard where they cut the homeowners pool liner and cover. Police estimate the damage is around $7,000.
And then on Sunday, July 24th between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. a Contract company trailer was broken into in the area of Belgrave Street. $6,000 worth of tools were taken. A 22 year old man from Woodstock has been charged.
Over the course of the weekend, the police also dealt with three calls for pets left in hot vehicles. Although none of the animals were hurt this time 'round, police are urging all pet owners to be responsible and leave your animals home where they are safe. Even a short span of time in a hot vehicle can cause irreparable brain damage. Cracking a window does very little the relieve the heat.
And officers are investigating reports of a suspicious woman in red scrubs and a white ball cap. Police were told the woman entered an apartment building on Canterbury Street on two separate occasions. They say she identifies as a personal support worker. Anyone with information is asked to call The Woodstock Police Service.
