The Woodstock Police Bike Patrol spent three days last week targeting distracted drivers and people not wearing seat belts.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Bike Patrol Unit have been keeping a close eye on the roads.
Last week they were set up a different locations in the Friendly City with a focus on Downtown. They were looking for distracted drivers, people not wearing their seat belt and other Highway Traffic Act infractions.
Over three days, officers from the bike united stopped several vehicles and issued 8 traffic tickets for not wearing a seat belt and distracted driving.
Police would like to remind drivers to buckle up at all times and make sure themselves and others in the vehicle are wearing the seat belt properly.
Drivers are also reminded to pay attention to other bike riders, pedestrians and other vehicles that are using the roads by keeping their cellphones out of sight and out of reach. If convicted for a first time offence of distracted driving, the driver can be fined up to $1000.00, lose their licence for three days and cost them three demerit points.
