Woodall Construction On Hold

An appeal from a landowner bordering the proposed Woodall Recreation Complex could possibly set the project back a year.

WOODSTOCK - An appeal from a landowner bordering the proposed Woodall Recreation Complex is threatening to delay the project by up to two years. Woodstock City Council reaffirmed its decision to support the by-law it originally passed on February 19th to rezone the property. Tenders for contracts for the complex are already up and Woodstock City Engineer Harold de Haan points out this appeal could seriously delay the project.

"Basically we have a contract out for tender right now for the grading and unless we can get the appellant to withdraw the appeal we won't be able to award that contract and construction will be on hold until this matter can be settled."

According to de Haan the appellant is raising some technical concerns. If the matter goes unresolved it could wind up in an Ontario Municipal Board hearing.

Construction could be halted on the project and the community vision of a recreation complex for the summer may have to be put on hold for several years.
