Craigowan Golf & Country Club plays host to the best of the best in women's golf.
WOODSTOCK - The best in amateur women's golf is taking over Oxford County.
Starting Tuesday Craigowan Golf and Country Club is playing host to the 101st annual Canadian Women's Amateur Championship
General Manager Adam Hagen says a lot of work has gone into the grounds over the past six weeks.
"Over this winter, we had such a tough winter that there was so much turf damage on our greens and certain parts of the course that Jerry Richard and the rest of his team did a fantastic job bringing things back to having it in our normal shape which is due to host a national championship."
"The buzz really starts about seven days out. Golf Canada has already been here for a week. They have set up an office on premise and you know slowly the scoreboard has gone up, some more flags, some sponsorship signs and you know, it was just kind of this slow gradual build."
Hagen says there is a real sense of pride for Woodstock in being able to host an event like this.
"You know in the other sense as a golfer, it's really cool to be able to have players of this calibre from around the world play the course that we are privileged to play everyday and you know, some of these ladies here will be the future of women's professional golf."
The tournament runs from Tuesday through to Friday (July 22nd to 25th) with free admission for spectators.
