Make sure to wear purple on Friday to show your support for victims of violence against women.
November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario and one thing you can do to show your support is to wear purple.
Coordinator for the Oxford Domestic Assault Review Team or DART Linda Armstrong tells Heart FM why they are asking people to wear purple.
"That colour symbolizes courage, survival and honour, it also symbolizes the fight to end woman abuse."
Armstrong says when you wear purple tomorrow it sends a message to victims that we recognize that abuse against woman is an issue and it may even encourage victims to speak out.
"So if I walk down the street tomorrow in Oxford County, anywhere in Oxford County, I see people wearing purple scarves or have a purple ribbon, I would know that this person believes it happens and this person believes there is an issue and that may encourage victims to speak out."
She notes domestic abuse is a problem in every community and Oxford County is no different.
