Winter is on its way, and the Woodstock Police are reminding motorists to make sure your vehicle is ready.
WOODSTOCK - Winter is coming and this means you will have to change your driving habits.
Woodstock Police are reminding everyone to be prepared and be safe this winter. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM it is a good idea to keep a survival kit in your trunk.
"With your vehicle, make sure that is in good shape: get the vehicle checked out and the tires are in good shape, before heading out make sure you have a full tank of gas and it is a good idea to have a survival kit in your trunk, make sure you have warm clothes, blankets, candles, water, and food in case you get stranded."
VanLeeuwen says having winter tires makes a huge difference, however she notes just because you have winter tires, doesn't mean you can drive faster or recklessly when the roads get icy.
Winter Driving Be Prepared, Be Safe!

- Stay alert, slow down, and stay in control - the three key elements of safe winter driving.
