About 100 Winchester students were getting to the root of tree planting Thursday. Students and teachers spent the good part of the day planting a variety of white pines, oaks and red maples along the 11th line in Burgess Trail Park. The event is part of the Pits 'N Mounds program in partnership with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA). Principal Susan Davis says students were very excited A tree was then planted in the school's yard Friday morning - for Woodstock's annual Arbor Day.
