The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board is going to distribute 200 Made You Smile packages to 200 seniors this Realtors Care Week.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board is looking to make some seniors smile this Realtors Care Week.
Tiffany Fewster-Salt, a Sales Representative with The Realty Firm B&B Real Estate Team, says the local real estate board received a grant from the Canadian Real Estate Association in order to participate in the national campaign this year.
"They have given us a grant to contribute to something we already want to do and something we have already helped with is the Made You Smile Campaign with the South Gate Centre. So we have decided to use the funds we have available to contribute to that campaign."
They're hoping to deliver 200 Made You Smile packages by the end of the week. The care packages include snacks, activities and goods from local businesses across the Oxford County. They also include information about 211, telehealth and services offered through South Gate Centre.
Fewster-Salt says the Made You Smile program started during the pandemic.
"A lot of people were isolated, especially a lot of seniors. The purpose of the Made You Smile bags through the South Gate Centre was to bring joy to seniors in lonely situations.
If you would like to nominate a local senior for one of the Made You Smile bags, all you have to do is e-mail the senior's full name, phone number and their address with their postal code to sgc@southgatectr.ca.
Fewster-Salt says local businesses can still donate items for the bags if they want to help out. The bags will be packed this Thursday so they must be donated before then. Those looking for more information can contact Mary Baxter at mary@widreb.ca or 519-539-3616.
