There's a bit of back and forth going on between the province and Brant County, trying to determine who should fund a new interchange for Bishopsgate Road and the 403.
BRANT COUNTY - Brant County is looking for some financial assistance from the province, in order to fund a new interchange for Bishopsgate Road and the 403.
In a press release, Mayor Ron Eddy says there's been a boost in traffic along Rest Acres Road.
"The increase in traffic is due to many factors including significant residential development and a growing number of aggregate trucks on the roadways."
The County says the aggregate industry is an important part of the provincial economy, and adds the industries tax contributions can't fund the interchange.
Councillor Brian Coleman is the Chair of the Public Works Committee. He wants the province to step up.
"The County must proactively respond to this demand. We had the opportunity to meet with and request financial contributions for this project from Minister Kathryn McGarry, Ministry of Transportation. We are eager to see this project commence."
Funding talks have been productive and cooperative, but the Ministry of Transportation believes funding the $6 million project should be Brant's responsibility.
