Southwestern Public Health is stressing the importance of well water testing for those who run on well water.
OXFORD COUNTY - A reminder is being sent out by Southwestern Public Health.
Residents of Oxford County that run on well water should think about getting a sample tested. Program Manager for the Environmental Health Team, Amy Pavletic says resources are available.
"We do provide bottles that are available for people to pick up at the health unit if they choose to test their own water."
She mentions that once a resident has their sample, they are able to bring it back to the health unit, and then they will send it to the lab to get tested.
Pavletic says that there is no set timeline for getting well water tested, but she gives some recommendations.
"We do recommend that people get their well water tested at least three times a year. Maybe, in the spring time after the snow has melted, towards the end of summer once we have had those heavy rainfalls, and then maybe in the fall if there is a lot of rain as well."
Pavletic adds that testing is available year round so that residents can access the service at their own convenience.
You can find more information about testing your well water on the Southwestern Public Health website.
