WCI graduates from all over will be coming back to Woodstock for a very special reunion
WOODSTOCK - WCI graduates of all ages are coming together to remember their old stomping grounds.
This weekend Woodstock Collegiate Institute will be celebrating 75 years with a Homecoming. Graduates will be coming from near and far to attend; according the Principal of WCI Chris Freisen some of the attendees originally graduated back in the 1940s."We've been putting some decade rooms together. We're starting with the 40s 'cause we know we're going to have some folks who graduated in the late 40s. So you're talking 60 - 70 years worth of grads."
Freisen says he knew the school had a special place in the community, but the response has been overwhelming."A small group of us starting two and half years ago, planning this so - and you know the good news is we started as a small group and kept the event rather simple but a lot of great people have come along and added to our group both formally and informally. So the event has really grown from what we originally planned it would be but hopefully that just means it will be more enjoyable for everyone."
The two day celebration includes several different events kicking off on Friday with an open house. Although no registration is required for that event, Freisen says they expect quite the crowd. Memorabilia will be placed throughout the school as a reminder of times gone by.
