Could Thamesford be at risk of a water shortage? It's a concern with this hot and dry summer, and Oxford County is asking residents to do their part by cutting back on outdoor water usage across the County. Thamesford residents, however, are being asked to immediately reduce outdoor use so water is available for basic needs and firefighting. Oxford County Water Specialist Deb Goudreau says residents not complying with this request will be confronted. "We did have people out doing enforcement all weekend long. We tend to issue a lot of first warnings to people, just reminding them of what the restrictions are, and after that we get really great compliance." Goudreau says there are a few areas of concern, aside from Thamesford, including Mount Elgin, Drumbo and Springford. You can see the status of your water system here. Local conservation authorities have issued Level 2 low water advisories, and have asked Oxford County's municipalities to reduce overall consumption by 20%. The County took the step on Friday by issuing the voluntary watering restriction, all corners of the county are asked to cut back on outdoor water use to once per week, based on your address. 0 or 1 - outside water use allowed on Mondays (6-9 am / 6-9 pm) 2 or 3 - outside water use allowed on Tuesdays (6-9 am / 6-9 pm) 4 or 5 - outside water use allowed on Wednesdays (6-9 am / 6-9 pm) 6 or 7 - outside water use allowed on Thursdays (6-9 am / 6-9 pm) 8 or 9 - outside water use allowed on Fridays (6-9 am / 6-9 pm)
