A hot and dry summer has prompted a water conservation request in Bright.
BRIGHT - Oxford County Public Works is asking the people of Bright to minimize their outdoor water use right now.
The local watershed is showing signs of strain from prolonged hot and dry weather this summer and the Grand River Conservation Authority has asked the County to reduce water takings from the municipal system by 20 percent. Manager of Water for Oxford County Debra Goudreau tells Heart FM some of the things you should avoid doing right now.
"What we want people to think about is how they are using their water, in the summer months, especially when we have these drought like conditions, people can spend a lot of time outside watering lawns or washing their car, so we just want people to think about how they are using their water and how much."
Goudreau says the request is only for Bright. However Public Works is reminding all municipal water customers across the County of the outdoor water conservation program that is in effect from May 1 until September 30 each year.
