OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council is looking at ways to get rid of garbage in the community.
This comes after a proposal was brought to council last year on improving their new waste recovery and reduction technology.
Warden Larry Martin says the next step is to find a location to build a new mixed waste processing facility.
"The next step is to acquire some land to put this facility on or which is the best route. There's three options I think that they left us with that would be the most beneficial. One was to move the site closer where the wastewater treatment could be treated, or leave it where it is at the Salford site and truck the wastewater, the runoff to the treatment plant."
Warden Martin says having the new plant in the County will benefit the environment.
"Oh absolutely it will benefit greatly and it's just part of one of the other legs more or less in our strategic plan to zero waste, zero poverty and cleaner air in the environment. So it just works right in to everything else that we're doing."
Once they have decided on a location, Warden Martin says they will have a procurement process and have someone supervise until they can begin building.
Although they are still in the early process of the project, he says they will starting building either by late summer or early fall next year.
