South-West Oxford Ward 4 Councillor George Way has filed papers for re-election.
South-West Oxford Ward 4 has its first candidate. Current Ward 4 councillor George Way has filed his papers with the intent of running for a second term.
Way has lots of time on his hands to devote to the community.
"I certainly enjoy it, and I have the time I'm a retired dairy farmer. I got my foot in the door I'd like to contiue doing it because I enjoy it, going to council Tuesday mornings."
With challenging cuts to provincial and federal grants starting this year, muncipalities will have a tough road ahead. Way knows it won't be easy but has some ideas of how he will manage the cuts if re-elected.
"Make some decisions and maybe just cut back on some of our spending and put aside some of our capital projects if we can for a couple years and build up our reserves and weather the storm."
As for what Way has accomplished during his time in office.
"Over the four year term we created a policy for our parks, hall and recreation committees and it makes them aware of where their money is being spent..."
The election takes place October 27th.
