Vandals Targeting New Home Builds

Several residences under construction have been broke into and vandalized.

OXFORD COUNTY - Damage from vandals to new home builds in Tavistock and East Zorra-Tavistock seem to be on the rise.

Between March 30th and April 18th, Oxford County OPP have responded to several reports of over night vandalism and break in's to several residences under construction on Jacob, Halliday and Roth Streets in Tavistock.

Police say the suspect(s) forcibly gained entry to the residences and damaged a furnace, kicked holes in the drywall, tore down insulation, and damaged a tub. The incidents are occurring in the evening and over the weekends.

Meanwhile, in the same area, two male suspect(s) described in their early 20's, riding bicycles, were scared off by an alert homeowner as they were attempting to break into a parked vehicle.

Police say the incident happened on April 6th, and the suspects were not located.  It is unknown if the two suspects may be responsible for the damages in the area as well.

If you see something suspicious in these areas OPP are encouraging residents to call and report it immediately.

Members of the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public's assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
