Oxford DART looks to bring awareness to domestic violence across the world
A flash mob broke out in three locations across Oxford County Friday.
The Oxford Domestic Assault Review Team led volunteers in Tillsonburg, Woodstock and East Zorra Tavistock in a dance to help end violence against women.
Coordinator of DART, Linda Armstrong tells Heart FM what the One Billion Rising initiative is all about.
"The global initiative is to bring awareness to the number of women and girls who suffer sexual violence, physical violence every single day."
"It's estimated that there's one billion women and girls who suffer daily. We just want to bring awareness to that but in a gentle way and what could be better than just laughing and dancing? It brings awareness in a peaceful way."
Armstrong says this is the largest day of action in the history of V-Day.
The flash mobs were filmed today and will appear on the V-Day website.
