Careless smoking is the cause of an early morning fire at the one of the Goff Tower apartment buildings. A blaze in one of the 5th floor units of the building broke out at 4:45 this morning. Woodstock Fire and Police were able to extinguish the fire with no damage to adjacent units. However, six city police officers and two people from the unit were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire department is now saying there were working smoke detectors in the unit. Damage is pegged at 4-thousand dollars. Improper disposal of smoking materials caused the fire.
