Since 2006, the United Way has been bringing local workplaces together to complete much-needed projects during the Day of Caring. Beth Taylor with the United Way of Oxford says there was great support from volunteers this year: "We had almost 100 volunteers that have come forward, which the more volunteers the more projects you can do. We hope to always be able to do what's put forward." There were twelve projects this year, and one them took place at the Ingersoll Services for Seniors. Volunteers from Community Employment Services and CAMI Assembly put soil and plants in newly built garden boxes sprucing up the outdoor living space. Julie D'emilio was glad to volunteer on behalf of CES. "It's our way of being apart of the community as well and giving back some of the great things that different places in the community have offered us their support, so now we're giving it back to them." The vegetable plants grown at the centre will help in preparing healthy meals for the members. Day of Caring projects also included painting at Pittock Lake, a barbecue at South Gate Centre, and serving at a soup kitchen just to name a few.
