The agency is looking to raise $1,125,000 this year
WOODSTOCK - $1,125,000.
That's the goal released this morning at the Oxford United Way Campaign Kick-off breakfast.
Campaign Co-Chair Chris Friesen says there was a lot of research that went into setting the goal.
"It's a balance of both need and being realistic about what we have received in the past from certain partners and what we hope to receive so there is a lot research and homework that goes into it before you pick a number. It's not just 'well that number sounds good, looks good on pieces of board'."
This year's goal is $20,000 more than the one set in 2013.
"The goal -- we always like to raise it a little bit -- so it's just a little bit more than what we brought in last year. We always have to be ambitious and we always meet our goal so we are really hoping it's not unrealistic and we are confident we can make it," says Friesen.
The campaign continues through to the end of the year with many ways residents can help out.
"Find a way to contribute. Everybody can do something and again it doesn't always have to be financial. If there is something you can do to help out, I think everybody can play a role so that is what I encourage everybody to do."
