Workers both for and against the unionization of Toyota are hosting information protests
Protestors both for and against have gathered outside of Toyota's Woodstock manufacturing plant in an effort to have their voices heard.
The friendly information protests are going on along side one another at each of TMMC's entrances.
Worker Jen Gosser says she feels she does not need to be represented by a union.
"I've been with Toyota for 12 years now and I feel that we are represented enough by our labour laws in this fine country that we live in and I feel that we have job security here at TMMC without a union and I don't need to pay union dues for that."
Gosser says she would love to get the union vote over with as it does cause tension inside of the plant and she feels everyone needs to respect each other and their differing opinions.
Unifor Staff Representative Danny McBride says there are a lot of issues inside of the Woodstock and Cambridge plants and he is for unionization.
"It's not about the money, I'll be quite honest. There's issues of basic fairness, there's issues of health and safety, there's issues of line speed and ergonomics that need to be addressed and the company has you know, been brought up on this stuff over many years and things have gotten worse instead of getting better."
McBride claims a union is the only way to correct issues within the plant.
Unifor announced Thursday it was temporarily withdrawing its Labour Board application to become the bargaining agent for team members at Toyota Canada until they could get more union cards signed so their campaign can move forward successfully.
