A Conservation Programs Specialist with Ducks Unlimited Canada is now working out of an office with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is entering into a new partnership with Ducks Unlimited Canada.
Manager of Conservation Services Brad Glasman says they are excited to welcome a member of Ducks Unlimited into their office.
"Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and the UTRCA have similar interests in restoring and creating wetlands for water quality benefits, flood control and wildlife habitat. This is a great chance to share technical knowledge and to work collectively on projects offering more and better information to landowners and other clients. There are many opportunities to carry out wetland work and when more groups are involved, more work can get done."
Rachael Scholten, Conservation Programs Specialist at Ducks Unlimited Canada will be working out of the UTRCA office from now on. She is excited to work on projects together.
"I will be working to conserve habitat that benefits waterfowl, other wetland dependent wildlife and society. We will continue to focus on creating new partnerships and build on past relationships with local organizations, such as the UTRCA, so that we can best deliver a program that supports landowners to conserve wetlands."
The two organizations are hoping this lead to more partnerships and a better working relationship. Ducks Unlimited Canada has had a similar arrangement with the Grand River Conservation Authority in Cambridge for the past 15 years.
