Woodstock Badminton Club gets $70,000 from Ontario Trillium Foundation
The Woodstock Badminton Club is about to undergo further renovations thanks to a $70,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The club found about about the grant Wednesday when they checked Trillium's website.
Club President Kevin Cougler says the project needs to be completed within one year of receiving the money.
"The purpose of the grant is to sure up and repair the brick work on the outside of the Badminton Club, insulate it so that we don't run into problem with the brick work falling apart in the future and then to cover it with siding to protect it."
Cougler says three years ago the club received money from Trillium to complete repairs.
"Part of the problem was leaking through the roof, and part of the problem was leaking through the walls so Trillium gave us $75,000 three years ago which solved the roof problem but we still had the wall problem. We had some seepage coming in essentially destroying over time our surface so it was needed pretty badly."
Cougler says the grant will cover the full cost of the renovation.
"It's kind of one in about five renovation projects that we've approved and fundraised for over the last three years and this is the last one that we've had to do so we now feel that we have a facility that we are very proud of that people in the Oxford community can come out and enjoy the sport of badminton and come with their families and play for many years to come."
Cougler hopes the renovations will be complete by the end of summer.
