The upcoming transitional house in Ingersoll is on target to be done by the end of this year, but could be pushed back to the beginning of 2025.
INGERSOLL/OXFORD COUNTY - More transitional Housing is officially on the way for Oxford County.
One unit will be located in Ingersoll and run by United Way Oxford in partnership with the Oxford County Community Health Centre.
The comes following Oxford County Council approved $1.7 million in additional funding for increased transitional housing projects in a push to tackle homelessness. The goal would be to add 20 new beds across houses in both Woodstock and Ingersoll.
Executive Director of United Way Oxford, Kelly Gilson, says the team at United Way is hoping to get the house fully functional very soon.
"In a perfect world we will have a house in Ingersoll up and running by the end of this year, that's the ideal."
She adds the timeline could potentially be pushed back to the beginning of 2025, depending on possible setbacks or delays. Gilson says though they are incredibly excited to get everything underway.
"We are so thankful and appreciative of Oxford County for putting their trust in us to be one of the partners on this particular program."
The house is said to feature between 5 and 7 rooms that will become available once the house is finished.
