A public meeting will be inside the Norwich Community Centre next Wednesday to discuss the multi-use recreational trail project between the Township of Norwich to Tillsonburg. The meeting runs from 7 to 9 pm where a presentation will be shown on the trail, which will be used for walking, hiking and more.
NORWICH - There will be a meeting next Wednesday on the multi-use recreational trail that'll go from the Township of Norwich to Tillsonburg.
Following approval from Oxford County council earlier this year, a public consultation was scheduled.
Manager of Transportation and Waste Management Services Frank Gross says the purpose of the meeting is to establish a trail partnership between the Oxford County Trails council, Norwich and a local community group.
"The direction we've had from Norwich council and County council was to seek public feedback and development agreement and then report back to council for further approvals."
The trail will be used for biking and walking. He adds it also meant to be used for hiking and possibly cross-country skiing.
The meeting will feature a brief presentation on the project before giving the public a chance to ask questions.
He says they'll also have mapping on hand and show some details of the proposed plan.
"They'll also be a comment sheet where attendees can provide their feedback on the proposed project and then we'll also just have some time after the presentation just to discuss any issues."
Gross adds if the project goes ahead it'll be another added feature to the trail network in Oxford County. He says it'll also provide a vital link to the trail network in Tillsonburg.
He says a local community group is proposing to fund the trail through private donations, including ongoing operations and maintenance, resulting in no financial contribution from the cities or the County.
The project is slated to have a start date in 2020.
It will be held inside the Norwich Community Centre from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
