Perth District Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health are advising that the Wildwood Reservoir is unsafe for swimming.
ST. MARY'S - Wildwood Reservoir has been deemed unsafe for swimming and the fish are not safe to eat or touch.
Blue-Green Algae has been spotted blooming in the water.
Perth District Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health warn that the algae could release toxins that are unsafe for contact or consumption.
Program Director of Southwestern Public Health Peter Haywood says this will last a few weeks.
"You may not see the blooms any longer, but it could remain in the water for up to three weeks. The ministry of the environment will continue to provide testing and will report the results to public health. The advisory will remain in effect until we get further tests."
He says anyone who does make contact needs to wash exposures.
"If somebody does come in contact with the water, it's important that you wash every exposure with clean water and soap. If you are a fisher person, make you you don't eat the fish that are caught in the reservoir."
Anyone who have made contact could feel irritation in their eyes or skin, or flu-like symptoms.
If you feel these symptoms after making contact, they suggest you seek medical attention.
