Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning for Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - Meteorologists are currently tracking a severe thunderstorm moving toward Mount Elgin. This storm could possibly form a tornado.
We might also be in for damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall.
Residents should take cover immediately if they hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris or any other threatening weather conditions.
It is recommended that you go indoors to the lowest floor and stay away from outside walls and windows.
If you are in a free standing shelter like a mobile home, vehicle, tent or trailer you should leave it behind and move into a strong building if possible. If you absolutely can’t go indoors, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
UPDATE (July 26th @ 8:23 p.m.) - The tornado warning has been called off but a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect.
