INGERSOLL - The 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay will be making a pass through Ingersoll in June.
Economic Development and Tourism Assistant for the Town of Ingersoll Chelsea Jibb says as a celebration community they have the opportunity to nominate a local resident to be the torchbearer for the community. "We are really looking for somebody who embodies the spirit of the Pan Am Games. That would be community celebration, participation and pride in our sporting and recreation community."
"The torchbearer -- in order to be eligible -- has to be at least 13 years of age and they must be a Canadian Citizen and a legal resident of Canada and they also have to be able to complete the assigned portion of the relay. I believe it's 200 metres. Obviously we are asking everybody to come out and give it a shot, we are just asking that you be available when the Pan Am Torch passes through town."
Nominations will be accepted until January 23 says Jibb. "This actually will go to our Pan Am Community Celebration Committee. We are going to compile the list of nominees who are sent in to us and then select the best suited candidate."
Nomination forms can be found here.
