The OPP and Woodstock Police would like to offer residents some helpful tips that will make Halloween night safe and fun for everyone.
WOODSTOCK - With the clocks going back this weekend the Woodstock Fire Department would like to remind you to also check your 72 hour emergency preparedness kits.
Having a fire alarm, carbon monoxide detector and 72 hour emergency preparedness kits are all ways to keep your family safe. Acting Fire Chief Jeff Slager has more on the emergency kits.
"We want you to check the stocks of your emergency prepare kits. So your 72 hour kit is something you should go through because sometimes we forget about it. We have taken the time to make them but we just leave them there but, we need to check them because it could be years before we use it."
Slager also added that its important to check the food in your kits.
"The idea behind it is to take this time while you set your clocks, go through your emergency kits. Look that any of the food that you got in there aren't bad along with the non-perishables as they still have an expiring date."
All these precautions are a great way to keep your family safe and sound all year round. The Fire Department would also like to remind you to check the batteries in your Carbon Monoxide alarms and smoke detectors to make sure they are working and in good order. It's a good idea to change the batteries during the time change in the Fall and Spring.
