Time to Chill is raising money for cancer research by holding a fundraiser this afternoon
WOODSTOCK - Time to Chill is hosting a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer that will let you throw pies in the faces of a few local notables.
Councillor Jerry Acchione and our own Dan Henry will be over at Time to Chill in the Springbank Plaza from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. to face the cream onslaught. Councillor Acchione can offer some tips as this is his fourth time getting pied at Time to Chill. "Buy noseplugs and earplugs. 'Cause it gets all over. There's a reason why I keep my hair cut short - it's to get the pie out of my hair."
Acchione tells us the owner of Time of Chill is doing this to remember a family member who passed away after a battle with cancer. "She's doing this in memory of a family member that was lost to pancreatic cancer. So it's an awareness - everyone knows about cancer, she's trying to add the pancreatic cancer spin to it to make sure people know that it's serious."
"I just hope everybody comes out," Acchione says. He and Dan Henry will be having a bit of a competition to see who can get more pies thrown at them for the cause. "Of course it is a friendly competition. As mentioned before if Dan happens to be winning in the donation department I'll be the first one to stand up and love to throw a pie in his face, and love to throw some more money into the bucket."
The fundraiser runs all day, with other people taking turns in the pie hot seat. There will also be specials throughout the day, as well as prizes, giveaways, and draws until 9 p.m. They are also hosting a silent auction in store to help raise more money.
