Eleven people will bring the story of Emale to life on the Thistle Theatre stage.
EMBRO - It's a story about mistaken identities, chat rooms, and the internet.
Emale will make its debut at Embro's Thistle Theatre this weekend, with shows also scheduled for next weekend as well.
Peter Johnson is one of the actors and he's playing the role of Stanley Johnson in the production. He says the show is set in a small town restaurant during a snowstorm.
"That's where everyone goes to meet, visit, and also get their advice from the owner because they know the owner gives excellent advice and they won't spread it around all over town!"
The show was written by Joan Veldman back in 2002, right when internet chatrooms started to grow in popularity. She was a big supporter of the local theatre community, directing shows at Theatre Woodstock and serving as a member of the Thistle Theatre Board. She passed away in 2023 at the age of 63.
Elaine Northmore is directing the Thistle Theatre production alongside her husband Norm Northmore. She's very grateful for all of the amazing people working on stage and behind the scenes.
"We have 11 cast members and all kinds of crew backstage."
She adds this will be the theatrical debut for at least three of the cast members.
Tickets for Emale can be purchased on the Thistle Theatre website.
Peter Johnson and Elaine Northmore stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday March 21st. You can listen to the full interview below:
