Oxford County has purchased a chunk of land by a popular intersection off Line 35 in Zorra Township to create a more truck-friendly intersection.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford County has purchased a chunk of land by a popular intersection of Line 35 in Zorra Township.
CAO Peter Crockett says the County decided to buy the land for $1,500 so they can make the intersection more truck friendly.
"This is an intersection at 35th Line that has a heavy truck movement with the quarry that's in the vicinity. It's acquisition of some lands so we can fix the right turn movement and make it safer for truck traffic."
The purchased land is classified as a daylight sight triangle. Crockett explains what this means.
"A daylight sight triangle is basically going back from the intersection of the two corners of the property line by 20 metres so we can create an area that is right of way and we can keep clear from a visibility stand point."
The intersection will have more sweeping right turns in the future.
