Timbit the chicken had quite the adventure on Tuesday, travelling from Norwich to Tim Hortons in Woodstock and has found a new home at Touchstone Farm.
WOODSTOCK - Finally an answer to the age old question why did the chicken cross the road? Apparently it was to get to Tim Horton's.
Yesterday several residents called into the radio station about a chicken wandering the parking lot of a local Tim Horton's in Woodstock.
Cassandra Bernard was able to safely secure the wild animal and reached out to Touchstone Farm for help.
Gillian Bowery Parkhill says they were happy to help out.
"I just let her know we are happy to help out, we have a farm, she can come crash at our house for a little while. Chickens aren't everyone's cup of tea, so I called Cassandra, she brought her over here and we set her up in a quarantine cage with food and water in our basement, she is happy, thriving and doing really well."
Bowery Parkhill says it's actually quite the story of how the chicken ended up at Tim Horton's.
"Her owner was attending a funeral service in Woodstock and she had climbed up into the undercarriage of his van. He drove to the funeral from Norwich and stopped at Timmie's first. At that point the chicken jumped out of the van and the owner didn't notice."
Touchstone Farms reached out to the owner and offered to keep the chicken at the farm. The owner agreed and as of today, the chicken, aptly named Timbit is now a member of the farm.
Bowery Parkhill says they might even turn her into a therapy chicken.
"We run programming out here, we have horses, we do a horse therapy type of thing and visits at the farm. Timbit is nice and calm and we are going to do some work with her and I think she will make a great addition to our team. We make visits to senior's homes and we bring some of our animals for things like that, so she will join our crew if she likes that, she has a wonderful temperament, so it could just be fantastic for her."
