Faculty voted against accepting the most recent offer by the College Employer Council.
ONTARIO / OXFORD COUNTY - It appears Ontario's longest running college faculty strike will continue. After a forced three day vote, it was a very clear message sent to the College Employer Council this morning that faculty are simply not willing to settle.
OPSEU local 110 President Darryl Bedford on the outcome of the denied offer.
"We're not going to be fooled by the dirty tricks and concessions in the college employers councils offer. The offer vote was an unnecessary delay. It hurts students and it hurts facility members."
The vote had a strong showing of 95% member turnout with 86% of members voting to reject the offer.
Bedford is optimistic if both sides return to the bargaining table they may be able to finalize an offer that works for both parties.
"In any case the council needs to get back to the bargaining table and they need to negotiate a settlement over the next few days. We think that's definatly possible if it can be negotiated in the next few days, we can get back into class next week and get the academic year back under way."
The strike has effected nearly half a million Ontario college students who are concerned about their academic year.
