The Teddy Bear Toss and pajama collection will be featured at the Navy Vets' home game tonight.
WOODSTOCK - It's Teddy Bear Toss at the Navy Vets' next game.
The initiative will go towards Operation Sharing's Christmas Place, which will help children who are less fortunate in the community.
Head coach Darren Young says pajamas will also be collected.
"It's fun for the guys a little bit. They're all wondering who's going to get that first goal to get the Teddy Bear Toss so it's a little bit of a thing there but then obviously for a great cause."
Young adds the pajama collection is new this year and it is a type of clothing that children need.
Tonight's game will feature them face off against Tavistock after dropping their last meeting to the Braves 6-3.
He says they've had a strong showing this month though, despite recent results.
"We were on a eight-game unbeaten streak and I felt our guys was just a little bit too comfortable, whether that was in practice, whether that was in games. I just felt that things were kind of slipping, and I kind of saw it coming, in a sense. I think it'll be good for us to be humbled that way and it's great that we get another chance to go right back at them because they're one of the top teams in the league and that's where we have to measure ourselves against."
Young adds one of their recent practices showed signs of encouragement as they prepare for the game.
The puck drops at 7:45 pm.
