Woodstock Police are looking to return some stolen goods to their rightful owners.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police is inviting anyone who was the victim of property crime recently to stop by the detachment.
They will be showcasing all of the recovered stolen items on the 13th from 11 am to 2:00 pm at their headquarters on 615 Dundas Street. This is a chance to come by and claim your stolen property.
Since October the Woodstock Police Property Crime Task Force have handed out 150 charges to 24 people and recovered approximately $34,000 in personal property along with two replica handguns, a bolt action rifle and a Taser. The task force was created because of a huge spike in property crimes in the City of Woodstock between August 2018 and October 2018.
Police Chief William Renton says that since the task force has been created, the Woodstock Police Service has seen a 50% drop in property related crimes in the Friendly City.
"This Property Crime Task Force is an exceptional example of the many resources of the Woodstock Police Service focusing on an identified issue specific to our community. One which produced outstanding results.” He further stated, the sad reality is many of the accused and crimes are linked to drug dependency and the drug subculture. An area we continue to put significant resources and attention towards."
