Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump came to an agreement
Progress has been made this afternoon in tariff talks between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Donald Trump.
Trudeau says there will be a pause of tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days, after Canada made new commitments in addition to its $1.3-billion plan to strengthen the border.
Those commitments include appointing a "fentanyl czar" and working with the U-S to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering.
Mexico struck a similar deal with Trump this morning.
This means Ontario will pause all retaliatory measures.
Premier Doug Ford planned to pull all U-S liquor from store shelves, and he would end a $100-million contract with Elon Musk's Space-X to deliver high-speed internet to remote northern Ontario areas.
