Two local curlers made it to the finals of the men's provincial championship at the Recharge with Milk Tankard in Dorchester.
DORCHESTER - The Ingersoll Curling Club is celebrating the success of the 2015 Recharge with Milk Tankard.
The club hosted the Ontario Men's Curling Championship in Dorchester last week, bringing teams in from all across the province and a large number of guests to the area.
According to Co-Chair Bob Armstrong, tickets were sold out for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, highlighting the two local curlers in the championships was definitely a boost for the final day.
Team Kean (Mark Kean, Mathew Camm, David Mathers and Scott Howard) advanced to the Brier in Calgary defeating Team Epping (John Epping, Travis Fanset, Patrick Janssen and Tim March) 7-6 in 10 ends.
Armstrong says the work of all involved is the reason for the tankard's success. "All I can say is thank you to all of them, it was crazy good. The support from the community from Thames Centre, from Ingersoll from both municipalities was great. The sponsorship aspect was phenomenal, we couldn't have asked for anything more or better they all stepped up to the plate, it was phenomenal."
Through the week, participants and spectators were commenting on the hospitality, activities and entertainment the organizers had planned - adding the hospitality of the community and neighbouring communities was greatly appreciated.
The Woodstock Rockers Special Olympics curling team captured the B-Division championships Saturday afternoon against Team Lindsay. "I have to say, I couldn't turn away while they were out on the ice. I didn't get to watch a lot of the curling this week but I watched every shot those guys threw; they were great...it was amazing out there."
