The County of Brant will be unveiling a brand new original banner featuring Syl Apps at the Paris Mounties game tonight.
PARIS - The Toronto Maple Leafs are handing out original banners to the home towns of some of their favourite players.
Tonight in Paris at the Mounties game the County of Brant will unveil a brand new Syl Apps banner at the Brant Community Sports Complex.
Director of Facilities and Parks Kathy Ballantyne says the hockey legend was originally a Brant native.
"Syl Apps was born and raised here in the town of Paris. He started his early hockey career in the old Paris Arena and that's why we've celebrated his legacy for many years."
Representatives from the Maple Leafs including Carlton the mascot will be at the game. Ballantyne says they also have plenty of action planned for the game tonight.
"There will be a centre ice competition during the first intermission with a shootout for a giveaway for a jersey."
The ceremony will begin at 7pm.
