Three areas of Oxford County are currently under boil water advisories from Southwestern Public Health.
OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health has issued three boil water advisories in Oxford County.
They are in Plattsville, Mount Elgin and Ingersoll... Plattsville and Mount Elgin were due to a drop in pressure, and Ingersoll having a potential presence of bacteria in a sample. Program Manager on the Environmental Health Team, Kitty Chan says it is a rare occurrence.
"It is not very usual. I would say it doesn't happen very often, and I know Oxford County maintain high standards and regularly sample their water supply."
Chan mentions the County works closely with Public Health to make sure residents are safe and have a reliable water supply. Chan says what the next steps are.
"We will be working closely with Oxford County, and they are in the process of doing some resampling."
Chan adds over the next two days, 24 hours apart the samples will be taken. Once clear samples have been received, the advisories will be rescinded.
Until the water is back to normal, residents in the affected areas should bring their tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it to cook, brush teeth, clean food, drink, or make baby formula.
