OXFORD/ELGIN/MIDDLESEX - A solar eclipse is fast approaching, and you'll be able to watch it thanks to Southwestern Public Health.
It's happening on April 8th, starting March 18th the health unit will be giving out solar glasses, for those planning on watching.
Staring at the sun directly during an eclipse is dangerous and can cause harm to your eyes, like permanent damage and loss of sight. These safety solar glasses can be picked up at the Health Unit at 410 Buller Street here in Woodstock, or 1230 Talbot Street in St. Thomas.
Regular sunglasses will not protect your eyes during an eclipse.
