The nighttime low is set to drop to minus 14, and the wind chill will make it feel like minus 22. That is why the cold weather alert has been issued.
SWPH - There has been a cold alert issued by Southwestern Public Health.
The Health Unit covers Oxford County and has issued the alert because temperatures are forecasted to drop to minus 14 and feel like minus 22 tonight. These temperatures will continue into tomorrow morning, before warming up in the afternoon. During a cold snap, people are encouraged to do things to keep themselves from getting frostbite or hypothermia. SWPH says such conditions could affect older adults, infants, young children, outdoor workers, people who like hiking or skiing, and those who might be experiencing homelessness.
If you would like more information about frostbite or hypothermia, you can visit the Southwestern Public Health website.
